Texas electricians continuing education

Our Texas Electricians continuing education courses are code based and written based on real world applications. Information is explained from the electrical code inspector's perspective but translated into simple explanations of the 2005 NEC codebook. The NEC Review Part 2 and Texas Electrical Law course covers chapter 3 of the national electrical code. This course offers lessons on Article 100 which includes definitions of common industry terms as set forth by the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) and the NECC (National Electrical Code Committee), gaining a more thorough understanding of the 2005 NEC codebook, and the most common misconceptions of the national electrical code. Any electrician will benefit from the classes provided, leading to improved efficiency and code compliance.

  • To renew your Texas electrical license, the Texas Department of Licensing requires the completion of 4 hours of approved continuing education courses during the term of the current license.
  • The required hours must cover the 2005 NEC codebook and the Texas state electrician laws and rules.
  • No specific amount of time is required for either the 2005 NEC codebook or the state electrician laws and rules; therefore, 3 hours and forty five minutes of code and fifteen minutes of law/rules is sufficient.
  • All courses must be approved through TDLR and can be verified by visiting the TDLR website.
  • TDLR approves various formats of Continuing Education including: Classroom, Video, Computer Based and Internet.  American Contractors Education Services specializes in online continuing education.
  • Online Continuing Education providers must be able to verify adequate time has been spent by the Texas electrical license holder.  American Contractors Education Services verifies this by timing each slide and prevents the licensee from fast-forwarding through the program.
  • TDLR also requires Online Continuing Education providers to verify identity throughout the course.  Questions will be asked intermittently thoughout the course with the intention of verifying the person attending is actually the Texas electrical license holder.

A four-hour course approved by the TDLR to fulfill the CE code AND state rules requirements. This course covers the most common requirements of chapter 3 of the 2005 NEC and provides a more thorough understanding of the code.

Wiring according to the 2008 NEC and Texas Electrical Law

A four-hour course approved by the TDLR to fulfill the CE code AND state rules requirements.This course covers all phases of residential wiring according to the National Electrical Code. Topics covered include branch circuit requirements, new AFCI and GFCI requirements, receptacle outlet spacing, new rules for receptacle outlets, feeders, services, and grounding. The 2008 National Electrical Code has undergone dramatic changes and staying current with these new rules is a must for electricians. Rejected inspections and repairs can be costly. This course highlights the significant changes made in the 2008 NEC and is designed to prevent mistakes commonly made by wiring according to earlier editions of the code. This course fulfills all 4 hours required by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for license renewal for journeyman and master electricians.
