Texas HVAC/ACR Contractors
We provide Texas HVAC code courses that explains the newest changes in HVAC codes. These courses will help you understand the new changes and keep you compliant. We also have courses in development for the Texas HVAC license exam, so remember to check back often. There are currently 8 hours of HVAC continuing education for you to choose between. - To renew your ACR license, the Texas Department of Licensing requires the completion of 8 hours of approved continuing education courses during the term of the current license.
- Two of the eight hours required must cover Texas laws and rules that regulate Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractors. The other six hours must be courses taken in one or more of the following subjects: International Mechanical Code, Ethics, Business practices, Technical requirements, Texas ACR laws and rules.
- All online continuing education courses must be approved through TDLR and can be verified by visiting the TDLR website
- TDLR approves various formats of Continuing Education including: Classroom, Video, Computer Based and Internet. American Contractors Education Services specializes in online construction continuing education.
- Internet Based Continuing Education providers must be able to verify adequate time has been spent by the license holder. American Contractors Education Services verifies this by timing each slide and prevents the licensee from fast-forwarding through the program.
- TDLR also requires Internet Based Continuing Education providers to verify identity throughout the course. Questions will be asked intermittently thoughout the course with the intention of verifying the person attending is actually the license holder.
Texas Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Fundamentals Part I

This ONLINE course, ACR Fundamentals Part 1 will meet all of the required hours of continuing education for Texas Air Conditioning / Refrigeration Contractors. All of our course materials have been approved by the TDLR.
All of our online seminars are professionally narrated and animated with graphic illustrations of the concepts being taught, and our web-based presentation system tracks your progress so you can work through the materials at your convenience, resuming where you left off with each login.
This 8 hour course covers the following:
Manual J Residential Load Calculations (2 hours) - includes calculations for residential applications for heat loss and heat gain.
Manual N Commercial Load Calculations (1 hour) - includes calculations for commercial applications for heat loss and heat gain, as well as basic principles, cooling, and winter design loads.
International Mechanical Code Review (2 hours) - The purpose of this CE is to provide the student with a thorough understanding of the IMC requirements for heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Topics covered include Administration, Definitions, Ventilation, Exhaust Systems, Duct Systems, Combustion Air, and Chimneys and Vents.
Using the ACCA Duct Slide Rule (1 hour) - includes principles associated with the design of air distribution systems, basic theory, duct sizing, and friction loss.
Law review part 1 (2 hours) - This 2-hour course satisfies the State Rules requirements for Texas Air Conditioning/ Refrigeration Contractors.

Texas Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Fundamentals Part II

This ONLINE course, ACR Fundamentals Part 2 will meet all of the required hours of continuing education for Texas Air Conditioning / Refrigeration Contractors. All of our course materials have been approved by the TDLR.

NEC for HVAC (1 hour) - will cover the basics of electricity as addressed by the National Electrical Code that every Air Conditioning Refrigeration Contractor should know.
